The Sandbank Psyche

By Ryan on June 17, 2018 12:01 pm

My name is Ryan and I like Surf Music.

Last week I was toying with the idea of abandoning these surf-rock escapades.

Then I remembered that surf music is awesome.

So here we are again!

Yay!

Crazy good energy in this one, rolling off from the intro into a relentless wave of sweet, sweet riffs! Also, the discoctopus squad in the art is on point!! Yay indeed!

Glad you were able to find new inspiration and be re-energized.  52 weeks can be a slog sometimes no matter what kind of music you're making, but pushing through tends to yield some good results.  Like this.  The surf is strong on this track for sure.  And yeah, the gif is great as always.

Ah yais the surf is strong in this one!  Last week's track was a nice build up to this as well.  Yay! smile

Looks like Hendrix was wrong: Superb energy!

Surf music is awesome and don't you ever forget it.  It's the grandpa of Rock N' Roll and if you ever forget it, Grandpa's gonna tell you!  BACK IN MY DAY, WE HAD TO SURF AND PLAY GUITAR AT THE SAME TIME.  Great track!  Great quick strum riffs smile

OMG best band name ever

Surf music is totally rad. You can totally branch out to other genres if you want, but check to see how you can turn it into surf rock.

Major riffage going on. This has such a full sound to it. That drum tone does nothing but pleasure my ears.

It should be a crime not to play Splatoon while listening to this.  It's super groovy and summery - great job!

With Pleasure! It was put together here in Australia by a luthier who goes by the name Cursed Objects. The guitar is a US Allparts body and Warmoth neck with pearl binding. Pickups are Curtis Novak Jazzmaster pickups but the finish is the coolest thing I think. The builder has actually charred the body black, apparently this is a Japanese practice of strengthening wood called Yakisugi. Brings out all the grain and looks awesome, supposedly it will relic quite fast too. He also put a bigsby bow tie bridge on it which I think gives the JM a lot of extra sustain. In love with this guitar.

Holy moly!  What a beautiful guitar.  That charred body looks awesome.  Here's mine!  Only one knob, which I love!!

Oh wow! I love me a green Jazzmaster. Is that's custom build?

No, it is the "Thurston Moore" model.  There is also a Lee Ranaldo model and a J Mascis Squire model.  (if you haven't seen those!)

I used to own one of those J Mascis Squier guitars it was great. That Thurston Moore looks excellent.

Rockin' tune.  Reverb for life.
