Velocity Craving: Deal Gone Wrong

By Ruffian Price on January 14, 2024 10:44 pm

Week two with an attempt at a classic tense deal scene culminating in a short chase in the style of last week's pursuit. Not really liking the melodic elements here, I wanted to include them but it kinda feels like they're distracting from the synth pulses and making the whole thing cheesy, especially those initial strings. Still, this mashup of styles was the plan for January, so it is what it is.

for what it's worth, i think the melodic elements work really well. if you told me they were motifs of the game or a character in it, i would believe it without question

did you listen to it without the melodic elements. The bass and drums and percussion are very strong and could probably hold their own. it reminds me of the soundtrack for Andor.

I feel you can lean way heavier into these elements to make it even more cheesy, a choir for instance. You could even consider adding a full on melody, as long as it's high pitched enough.

. You shut your mouth—that’s what I came here to compliment, other than the overall impression that the whole track sounds awesome.  It’s not cheesy if it’s rad enough.
