Light Blocks: Pence Avenue

By Ruffian Price on April 7, 2024 11:33 pm

I've said it before but restraint is like a whole separate skill. Once you have the basic blocks in place the temptation to add useless shit is constantly in the background. But this is supposed to be, for lack of a better word, unobtrusive. The one thing I didn't do by the book is the two chord layers, normally the second one would come in later, here I start with both and finish with just the arp.

I have weekly beats running in the background while I take care of some stuff in the studio, housekeeping so to speak. I really enjoyed the surprise of your track. Absolutely excellent.

I couldn't agree more about the restraint thing. It's all too easy to add more than needed, as if it somehow makes something already excellent, even better.

This is exactly what it needed to be and it's awesome.
