Wood Ox Acid

I welcome all critical feedback.

For the first four weeks I used Analog Rytm for drums. Last week, I used laguna's drum track, so the Rytm streak was interrupted. This week then, I felt like I need to get back to it! I really like that drum machine.

But to break another streak in the interest of variety, there's no synthwave this time. I got inspired by Holzter's "Rebirth RB-338 template for M8" and made an equivalent with Analog Rytm.

The recording here is a live jam, I even filmed it but then discovered I'm mostly obscuring what I'm doing with my left hand due to the camera angle πŸ€¦πŸ»β™‚οΈ Later I added Iridium pads/lead to add some spice.

142 BPM 4/4, C-major.

That RYTM acid is delicious, it's such a tempting machine. The iridium pads really fill it out nicely and create quite the mood, loved it!

The heavy reverb and overall electro groove give the track a somewhat vague "early VST era" vibe, not in the quality of sound per se, but in the kind of grooves we all tried without worrying about if "is this tech-house, is this minimal industrial..."

Cool electronic groove smile

Wow, super neat! I didn't know the RYTM can do acid smile

love that you made your own RB-338 patch!
also love the chords that come in after about a minute, definitely giving reznor with those.

that beat is so bouncy and fresh, everything plays no nicely together - excellent mix!

I sincerely think the Rytm is the greatest drum machine currently on the market. It's expensive but I immediately found place for it in my setup and essentially use it constantly. It's a keeper. Glad you liked the track!

That's nostalgic! I was there, at the early VST era! With an underpowered computer and overpowered ambitions πŸ˜‚

It's a surprisingly capable drum machine! The only thing Rytm is not great at is multi-bar non-4/4 rhythms.

Thanks for the inspiration with the RB-338 patch. And I'm blushing from the Trent comparison 😈

I appreciate the kind words, jwh!

I really enjoy the balanced movement this song has - I’m imagining it me moving me to one side of a room, and then the other along with it’s flow, and it’s even and balanced

nice acid line and those soaring pads are very effective, all comes together really well
