I welcome all critical feedback. Can relicense if needed, just ask.

A gentle solo grand piano improvisation recorded live in Bellingham WA. Shimmer and subtle synth bass added in post to cover the lofi quality of the raw recording.

Freeform 4/4, B-minor.

great improv session! Love what you did in post though it would have been beautiful as a standalone lofi recording, not that I would change it now. Beautiful

I love the emotional quality in this track.  Just lovely.  Great use of effects to, that metallic high end shimmer really fills out the spectrum nicely and compliments the piano tone well.

This feels so clear and intentional, especially for an improvised piece, really beautiful smile. The transition at 2:09 was so smooth, I had to stop and backtrack to hear it again. Love the vibe of the piano with the synth elements too.

very beautiful. Thanks for sharing

such light and lovely melodies, thank you for this calming track

Lovely work, enjoyed this moment of calm.

Beautiful improvisation. I actually really like what I can hear if the raw recording, the "lofi" aspect sounds very real and pleasant - the shimmering out of place but I really believe the raw recording could stand just fine with less shimmer. The subtle synth bass is a nice addition - did you saturate the low end of the piano at all? The bass and the piano seem to merge very organically. Lovely piece.

I felt like I had to augment the recording because the high frequencies were pretty much non-existent and it felt like listening to a piano from the next room.

Thanks, it took a lot of tweaking so I'm glad it turned out well.

Thanks for the careful listen. I can't really tell how this happens, but some pieces just come at a time and place and you don't have to do much, just capture them. If you can believe it, this was the only take, and there wasn't any composition or planning beforehand.

I wasn't happy with the raw sound, but maybe subtler shimmer would work, too. I didn't do anything to saturate the piano in post, it was just the nature of how the iPhone captured it. In fact, I felt the low registers on the grand piano were a bit unsatisfactory on their own, hence the augmented bass synth. I was just careful to not overpower the solo piano nature of the tune and kept the bass synth real quiet. Glad you like it!
