Fishing With Birds and Fire

I welcome all critical feedback. Can relicense if needed, just ask.

I brought the Yamaha FGDP-50 to Japan with me and I think I'm getting better at it. Here's a solo performance I did with it using a handpan sample set I made myself and put on the device. Additional reverb in Ableton Live, and that's it.

121 BPM, A-minor, 3/4. Naturally unquantized.

Niiiiice. I have never heard of the FGDP-50 before, but it looks pretty sweet! This is actually hugely inspiring. Love the ambiance. Actually, if you wouldn't mind, I might want to try and remix this. Would you be ok with that? Fav'd. heart

This is very flattering! Go right ahead and remix all you like.

Your fishing techniques must be very advanced if they involve both birds and fire. I can believe it if this is the sound that plays during it.

This sounds so organic for something electronic. I can hear the fun you are having in the performance.

i really love the feel of this track. the reverb is matched perfectly to your parts and the mix just feels RIGHT. listened a few times while making breakfast this morning and it really set a nice tone for the day

fingers crossed, i would be stoked to hear this ^^

Beautiful. Enjoy Japan.

Really amazing how full this track sounds despite being a drum pad solo performance with a single instrument. Really love the harmonies and subtle melodies that are hinted throughout.

Good catch, the two fishing methods are somewhat contradictory, but it makes for a good title.

Hopefully there were fewer dark undertones in your day than in the track! Appreciate the careful listen.

I did! Humidity + temperature were a killer combo in August but it was worth visiting anyway!

I got inspired with the Zenko tongue drum I had for a while. Those instruments only have a few notes on them and yet they're incredibly musical because they make you focus on expression and rhythm more than the harmony itself. So I made a sample set like this for the FGDP-50 and I probably play on that more than on the drumkits built into the device 😅
