Fire With Fire

Part of Disquiet Junto Project #0555: A Simple Timer, a prompt to create a composition with the following requirements:

- minimalistic
- up to 5 channels
- all voices simple waveforms
- no effects or post-processing

I decided to go for a full chiptune then. Here's a video with the same track where I comment on what works and why. There's a few old basic chiptune tricks in there.

Damn, that's a hot mix and decent master.  Super loud and clear! The raw minimalistic approach has a lot of power! Raw and dirty.

Yeah, I was surprised, too. It goes to 11 when you stick to simple dry signal with no FX.

Welcome back!  The track is a banger―I especially dig the leads and the bass drum (which I guess is already half the instruments tongue).

I also really appreciate the educational commentary in the video.  When I started looking into chiptune composition & arrangement techniques earlier this year, I found myself wishing for resources exactly like this but they're surprisingly rare.

Yea, chiptune sounds like a shoe-in
it's spicy
