Another October

By rplktr on October 30, 2022 10:30 pm

A short meditation on passing time.
What if shimmery Harold Budd but as part of a jazz trio?

The piece is obviously inspired by Brian Eno's production of "The Pearl" by Harold Budd, and in particular its shimmer reverb. My version of the effect was done manually with a pitch shifter in Ableton Live (see how in this video). The parallels to the opening track of "The Pearl", called "Late October", go beyond the reverb. But "Another October" goes its own way by being a jazz trio piece with an FM bass powered by Opsix Native and a jazz drum kit from Ableton Live.

96 BPM, 5/4, C major.

Those are a lot of names I don't know, but listening to this is nice, maybe I'll give it a listen. In the meantime, I have this.
