Stars Are Hydrogen

My uncle passed away unexpectedly this week. Thankfully it was peaceful and painless and he'd been in good spirits for the weeks before and he'd lived a long and full life, so it's probably the best most of us can hope for such a sad situation.

Having said that I'm devastated. It's punched a huge hole in my world and I still can't believe we'll never get to talk again and me or my family get to bathe in his unquenchable fascination for the world and wit.

He was one of those rare people that when you spoke with him, he was totally engaged and there was no other conversation he'd rather have. Strong opinions and good natured disagreement was standard issue wrapped in jokes and good humour.

His joy of sports was only matched by his boundless fascination with science and the world around us. The excitement of discovery quickly converted to the enthusiasm to share.

The title is a bit of an inside joke between my son and his Great Uncle, who share the love of science.

While stars are technically hydrogen, my uncle is undoubtedly a star for me and guiding light whose memory I will hold close for the rest of my life.

This week, this track is for him.

Hey friend, sorry for your loss. I was listening and came here to write that your track sounds weightless, ethereal and beautifully fragile. After reading about the backstory I just have to add that it captures a heartfelt farewell really. Much love!
