The Float Room (Sinking Remix)

By rdomain on July 27, 2014 11:43 am

I recently completed a commission piece for The Float Room.  The feedback I received from the client was;
"Wow, that sounds beautiful! Thank you soooo much."

This remix is the opposite of what they requested.

But this sounds great -- I'd be interested to hear its opposite :-)

Thanks Jim.  The original is a very organic and blissful affair without being 'new age' at all  smile   I thought I'd best not release a commissioned piece before they've released it themselves!  I'll probably make it available online later in the year.

Haha.... I didn't think Fuck Buttons get that extreme?  I do enjoy elements of the recordings I've heard though.  Great band live!

can't remember I've ever heard something more distorted as this. fuck! (and it's great, too!)

Haha... awesome.  Glad you dug it too!

Sounds great! Love the sense of there being calm bliss hidden beneath the distortion.

Thanks.  Yes it's an interesting juxtaposition hey.  I did a series with piano and extreme noise 2 years ago which had quite interesting results too.

The video with the original piece just got released tonight.  How's that for timing!   So I'm able to share it now.  Here's the link.

glad you remixed it!!!! is it possible to get that super saturated version in the floating room or you are obliged to listen the relaxing version while floating in the water? it would be worth having a bath session with massive subwoofer!

A sub bath would be awesome!!  And yes, I felt it needed a remix although if you hear the ambient version without the dialog etc, I actually quite like it still.  Has a very analog warmth to it even though I wrote it all on the Virus Ti2 (virtual analog)

As for the isolation tank, they usually play some relaxing music for the first 5 or 10 minutes to ease you into the environment and then it's turned off.  Now that I know the owner, I could probably ask her to put any music in there for me!  Not sure if she'll install a sub for me though  wink

I don't know what your client's version was, but this was sweet.

Never heard the original but to my ears I have the same comment as your client: "Wow, that sounds beautiful! Thank you soooo much."
