From East to West

By rdomain on January 22, 2014 1:15 am

An improvised modular synth performance moving from rhythmic chaos to dark ambience.  I hope you have the time to listen to this performance in it's entirety.  The title is taken from the concept of East Germany flowing into the west after attacking the wall which separated.

There are zero edits on this performance.

Very cool dude, some very brutal and very beautiful sound going on here.

just love modular noodling, I think you really had a really clear idea of what you wanted to do in your mind while doing this one, and that's great. Very well done

I like how the whole piece we are kind of zooming out, hearing the system from a different perspective. Very cool chaotic rhythms in the beginning.

That was great, evoked stark images.

Once again i have chosen darkness. Well orchestrated and like the grinding soundscapes you finish with.

This needs to be on a David Lynch film! loving the feel of the track, very dark smile

Great performance, I like how you continually keep it interesting all the way through.
Very dark and very good!

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone and especially for those who listened to it in it's entirety.  This piece almost requires it.  And apologies if I haven't listened to your piece yet!  I will get to it.  I'm currently working on the Murdergrin recording amongst other things.

Cheers!

wonderful piece.

The huge scraping metal parts at the end, way into that. crazy to think this is all just a synth.

and yes, modular synthesis is pretty awesome  big_smile

woah! Super nice tones and atmosphere. Inspiring stuff. I'll try to do a whole WB track with my modular someday.

Outstandingly menacing atmosphere.  To me, it brings to mind Geiger counters clicking furiously away in Chernobyl.  Great job!

Definitely!  I'd be keen to have more modular tracks on here and thanks for the kind words!  Another modular piece coming up this week  smile

Awesome!  Thanks for the description and for listening.  Glad you dug it!

oh man, this is sick. The organic/metallic feeling and room is awesome. No fast food for sure, which is good!

Wicked.  Thanks dude!

Seriously wicked and chaotic material. Really like the wild electro part 1/3 in to an ominous ambience.

Thanks Lyons!  That's why I thought it'd be ideal to listen to the entire piece  smile  One of the many reasons I love my modular system.  It's so amazingly flexible and an excellent performance interface for self evolving or improv.  Cheers!

nice how it develops in time! and really cool noises...

Cheers Stefano!

Wild spacialization!

Awesome!  Thanks man.  I find that's one of the harder things to do with the modular without buying dedicated panners etc.

How did you do it? (I dreamt of a 4ms VCA Matrix that I used for panning...) smile

Yeah I've contemplated a 4ms VCA Matrix.  Would probably be pretty cool.  I believe it was the Tiptop Audio Z-DSP which did most of the heavy lifting.
