End of Decryption

A one take performance using a custom instrument I built in Falcon with some more custom erhu samples I recorded from the talented Felix Wang.

The instrument is keysplit into two parts.  One for the high microsounds with only minimal processing and one for the low percussive hits which contains heavier tone shaping and reverb.  I also played the high sounds down much lower later in the piece to create a pseudo beat.  Things morph and change the more I hold the keys down due to the original sample used.  All performed on the Oxi One which has turned out to be a great little midi controller too.

Really deep textures. I am barely aware of falcon but this has me interested

The expansive reverb on the heavy hit is a fantastic contrast to the up-close squishy bugs tickling my eardrums. Creepy but fascinating.

Falcon is great!  It's replaced my custom instrument designs I would usually use Kontakt for.  Much more inspiring and more powerful.  Some find the learning curve quite steep but I didn't find it too bad.

Thanks!  Yes, I find a lot of ambient/sound design stuff is just all drenched in reverb.  It's great to have that contrast and it also dramatically places the parts in their own sonic space.
