All Is Lost and Forgotten

An extract from a rehearsal with an ensemble of mine called PRT Ensemble which is electronics, violin and sax.  This was in preparation for an upcoming gig celebrating the winter solstice on this side of the world.

Great. It sounds so gentle and good. When I record a violin or my cello, it always sounds like a moskito. I want to know what
I do wrong. Your performance will be a good date to go and be celebrating.

Huge drone, augment with static explosions here and there. White noise, in a good way. That should be an exciting gig!

Thanks for listening guys.  I promise I'll have a deep dive into the tracks I've missed of yours soon!

Regarding the violin sound, it was captured quite minimally.  She uses a lapel mic on the violin which needs phantom power, that went into my Yamaha mixer with a touch of built in reverb and compression; that was it!  There is a submix that the violin has the option of going to which runs through a Microcosm pedal but that's only when you hear delays/pitching etc.

And yes, I'm looking forward to the gig!  This Friday.  smile
