sea star

i had the flu this week, had to stay at home and was too sick to play an instrument. by chance I made a longer recording session last week, of which I was able to take some parts out and create something new. there are different ingredients I took: M2K7 gave my some new loops for my ehx-looper, which I was sending through my effectpedals, used the MPC1000, where I successfully made an SSD-card upgrade, so it runs silent and faster, a little OP-1 session and fragments of several ipad apps, in which I explored samples of my own and the wonderful bulgarien folk choir.
Paula is back again and says thanks to everbody, who listed last week to her chantings.

The flu can be so miserable. Hope you are feeling better soon smile Very cool to hear some of "the other side" of your last week's track. The choir is a fantastic touch and has an "other-worldly" quality among the sea of other sounds. Very cool journey of a track.

I hope you have a good recovery from the flu! This is never a fun experience.

We travel through this track through different sonic fields.
Ambient and atmospheric rooms, electronic rooms, experimental and delicate spaces.
The section from 4:20 with the electornic feel is delicious - it has a lot of energy but is doing that in a very subdued way, which makes it sound extremely tasteful. It could be super bombastic and pushing all the levels everywhere but on the contrary it does it in an humble way and this makes it just perfect. The sounds are great as well.
The introduction of a delicate bell like piano in the next section is a beautiful other layer, as it's fragile and cuts through the mix. The chanting and the way it comes and goes adds to the sense of magic of that section. I guess this is the Bulgarian folk choir? It sounds really rich and has a good mix of voices.
The electronic line calling back the electro sound at 9:40 was like someone nicely knocking at the door and asking if they could come in. Of course, please come in, and the electronic tune comes back.

What a journey!

I feel like I just took a trip around the world.  So many sections and moods and cultures visited.  Hope you feel better soon.

thank you, that was so great! also, please tell Paula i said hi. i'm glad she is back home and i hope she is healing.

This was a fun ride. I like your long songs that have surprises in them. I think the lo fi hip hop sounding part is my fave, but its all good. It was fun to put this on, do some work on the computer and enjoy the ride. Great little details as usual. Thanks for sharing that link to choir, that sounds so good, really interesting. Sorry you had the flu, hope you're feeling better and glad Paula is better!

glad to hear paula is doing better but sad to hear you are unwell - hope you are feeling better by the day

My fave experience on weekly is the surprises I find, musical ones, and this was just filled with delightful surprises and unexpected treats, just awesome.

Love how your long epic tracks always take us on a journey that has a slow_genre_changing_carousel feel to it.  Like slowly turning and each part you hit a different section.  Though different they seamlessly flow into each other so well.  The choir is hypnotic with the bell-like tones. Awesome sounding synths for the upbeat housey finisher. The whole track feels like one refreshing wave of music experiences smile  I hope you're feeling mucho better!

Great work creating this while you're sick as you were still able to create a multi section journey using various recordings and gear setups.  I reckon you could have created 4 songs out of this alone!
