deep dive

another week and the weekend on duty. I only had saturday afternoon and the early sunday morning time to work on this song. I was not shure where it was directing me to, I tried to add some recorded freestyle pseudo-jazzbeats on it. it was not easy to find the right ballance between drums and the guitartextures, did more than 20 different mixes and had to stop further experimentals, because of the limited time. But I deleted the drums and came back to the drone-version, because I also had to cut the recordlathe for the wilcox-rawcats. and now I will go back to work. sorry, you will never hear the drums.
By the way, the track was made on my 2011 macbook pro, that was unusable for 4 years. I fixed it this week after researching a long time why it got stuck in a loopboot. Youtube gave me different diagnosis. I made the decision to bake the GPU on the motherbord with a heatgun for 5 minutes to resolder the contacts. And it really worked out very fine. that was my highlight this week.

You baked a laptop with a heatgun? That's very cool. This track is nice too. I like the drone-version.

oh dang that's some soldering wizardry right there yikes  I couldn't solder to save my life lol.  Love the deep dark textures of the guitars.  The bassier tones hit so nice.

Nice, sorry that we cannot hear your drums as I quite like their tones, but happy we could hear that version anyways.

Plus being able to give a second life for the Macbook is great, hope that if you had some files that never backed up that you were able to save it somewhere safe!

Thanks for the track!

It would be interesting to hear the drum version, but the textures here are rich and deep enough to stand on their own for sure.  The no drums gives it a less grounded and more floating in space type of feel.

drones all the way

these guitar textures are gorgeous. i'll have to check out the recordlathe version too but this has a rich and complete feeling to it. it's really hard to make simple things stand on their own, very nicely done.

also, congrats on the GPU fix. love a low tech solution, very cool!

I remember my dad showing me how to fix his electric guitar with a soldering iron when I was a kid and I was so fascinated by everything. I did not become an electrician and I couldn't care less about that kind of stuff now...this track on the other hand has a wonderful atmosphere. Love it.

just went on a journey with that one heart

I like this droning journey, mysterious things happening beneath the surface of comprehension. Great job getting it out in short time. And congrats on the macbook fix, that's wild, Bake all the things!

not even gonna try to find a gif - this is golden

& as usual q-rosh your sleepy drones are magnificent!

Wow it's the first time I hear about fixing a laptop issue by cooking the motherboard with a heat gun. I guess this is the last of the last of the last resort! "cover the GPU in fresh cream, some strawberry jam in the DVD player, and then cook everything for 2 minutes, that should solve the boot loop issue". What a miracle.

Oh i really like that track. I think I can hear some low rumblings of a bass sometimes, and those delays in the guitar are really good, accompanied by a digital river running underground. Ominous and beautiful.

desolate beauty in this one, like floating alone in space

The drums will be in our imagination, but this beautiful song will be in our heart
