crude waste

By Q-Rosh on January 28, 2024 11:39 am

This was done in 2 days after working. Don`t expect too much. The guitarwaste was the basic thing I already had recorded in a 30 minutejam a while ago. I fabricated lot of mistakes and useless stuff. For the elements that I liked, I wanted a moody orgel and drum kind of decoration, which was freshly recorded in the basement of our house. Somehow my drumkit sounds better now, the way I put the mics. Just a stereo-overhead and the AKG reverb. It was fun playing and I hope I will improve my not jet existing drummingskills this year as well. The organ was splitted and had a flanger track additional and played with drumssticks on the keys as well...like a vibraphone.
The arrangement of it all was frustrating and unsatisfying, because I had too much material and not enough time to distill it properly this week.
The polycarbonate-wilcox-raw-cats-track contains the orginal guitarjam. No, I did not made a 30 minutes record, only took 5 minutes randomly.

Your intuitive sense of sound design and guitar flow brings magic even to tracks that maybe feel less inspired to you.  My ears hear something warm and bubbling with a sense of positivity.

I like the shining twinkling sounds, they sound like Christmas decoration and float over the track. As is a key signature of your tracks, the organic wobbly layers provide a wonderful texture to the music. I really like that organ sound from 2:30 - nostalgic, classic, and timeless.

I really like your drums man!

If you like mono drums and like to have nice kick low end, mono overhead and a mic in front of the kick is a great 2 mics technique as well, but there is nothing wrong with your drum sound as it is now. I especially like your ride cymbal, what is it?

See you next week.

I agree with CosmicCairns.  Despite the frustration and dissatisfaction you felt your signature sound and groove is felt throughout this track.  The drums sound excellent and the organ supports the somber guitar melody so nicely.  Keep on keepin' on!

wow really like this, the effects that kick in when the drums kick in really got my attention. the drums do sound really good throughout. very polished sounding mix, feels like it would sit nicely in an album. some vocals might be cool here. favorited.

I really love the drums on this, they sound crispy and the reverb sounds really lush. I always struggle with reverb on drums, it never feels quite right to me, this is inspiring

Great guitar line and I really like the drums too, recording sounds good and you play a good groove. Overall an enjoyable piece, sounds like you and has a mix of moods contained in it which is wonderful.

into it, Q-Rosh

You're right, the drums are sounding good.  That snare in particular.  I think the verb is helping too here.
Well great work piecing this all together into this laid back track.  Quite like the organ tones too.

despite your misgivings, I'm really enjoying this one, beautifully atmospheric

still a fun jam

not existing drum skills??  i'm pretty sure you are playing drums here muh dude!

heart

Those drums are very nice, some really nice moments in this one when everything lines up just right.

Even if you found the arrangement portion unsatisfying, I think it came out pretty well. Definitely feels like the song has an arc and a direction. I dig the faster percussion stuff towards the end, feels very climactic.

sparkly into into those drums was really nice

lovin this crude waste, it's a finished track with the drums completing it, keep up the good work!

All the little mistakes makes it very organic
