black gunk

By Q-Rosh on August 18, 2024 10:52 am

This is a quick thing. I am on duty again.

There's an ethereal quality to this.  A sense that you're hearing something that isn't quite there or is very far off, but it's magical and inviting.  Hope your vacation provided you with some rejuvenation before you get back to the grind.

beautiful track, really like the textures you pulled in.
hope re-entry wasn't too painful, and yeah... hope your time off was everything you needed it to be.

Nice, I enjoyed both parts if you can call them that? Great textures here!

super cool dark mood. appropriate name.

lots of images pop up

This is really dark and hallucinatory but wow what a vibe and jam! Reminds me of Slow 30s Room from Twin Peaks at the beginning there, but takes us somewhere that's anything but slow.

Thank you all very much for the friendly comments. I always appreciate your comments, but do not have the time to answer, even I would like to react to every one personally.
BUT ACHTUNG!!!!
I totally forgot to tell the story, why this track has the name “black gunk”:
Actually it is about an issue I had this week with the KRK Rockit6 G2 monitor speakers. One of them has a volume drop in the first 30 minutes and we (M2K7 and me) did not find the reason why, until I saw some videos about the “black gunk of death”. It is a black glue, several brands use for the electronics on the board. What happens is, the glue becomes conductive after a couple of years and can cause multiple failures or destroy the things. This is an incredible fact and should not happen!!!!
Now, what we have to do is to remove the “bgod” manually from every element on the board, what is not a nice job.

I thought, this might be interesting for all of you, in case your speaker will have strange issues one day.
Remember the black gunk of death!!

NEVER FORGET THE BLACK GUNK OF DEATH
*i hope i never meet this gunk!

I made it!!! Thanks

I love the drums through out, especially after the change up at around 2:00... solid kind of kilter sounds, and the Rhodes plays into that super well, but that beat after 2:00 is pretty dope, like it set of a whole like imaginary free-style rap battle in my head.  Pretty dope for a quick soundscape.

The smooth brushed snare sets the ambience and pulls the listener in. Another liquid and syrupy track, that gets us to a warm place. The mood shifts around the 2:03 mark, with that laid back beat and the staccato chords. The short piano lines contribute to the ambiance. Relaxed, laid back, and yet with a sense of mystery. A quick thing maybe, but a fantastic quick thing.

Love the chill laid back vibes from the start.  Like were searching the radio waves through the clouds to find the beat and then bam the bass/keys/beat kick in.  Comforting chords that take me to a calm place.  Thank you!

Both sections were so enjoyable, really cool how cohesive this sounds as a whole even though it was such a distinct change at 2:03. Totally groovy smile

Such lovely textures bubbling away in the background.  The first half almost gives me a The Shining ballroom scene vibe to it.  Lovely yet slightly unsettling.  Very cool.

what did you use to remove the gunk & did it work?

The electric piano couples well with all the sample and the effects.

The gunk lives. Like a dark lounge vibe here, swinging little gunk band. I like how the drums change up halfway. Tasty stuff.

great tune man    it became a back drop for my mood then became my mood

LOL

I feel REALLY SILLY for being like "KRKs are the best ever!  YOU SHOULD GET THEM" and now reading this

this song is a beautiful tribute to a landfill of speakers.  fingers crossed mine do not suffer the same fate!

I do hope I never meet that black gunk.. But this song, in contrast to that, is simply lovely and evokes the image if sitting in a strange but cozy lounge bar. Thanks for creating this sound portal to that place
