analog feeling

By Q-Rosh on April 29, 2018 1:07 pm

this project is mainly done with the equipment and the spirit I used, when I started homerecording in 1998 and had my first record output as Tulla Soundsystem "Kassettenclassics". Back in those days, I only had a small budget and a rudimentary setup and by chance it was a magic combination of underrated old second hand pedals and machines. The most important and most powerful combination was to connect the line output of the sequential circuits drumtraks drummachine into a morley flangepedal and from there into a 60ies italian meazzi tubeampflifier with buildin tapedelay. The sound was recorded with a mic and a 4-track recorder on tape-cassette. Unfortunately I gave my solina stringensemble to a friend and could not use it for this recording.
I was not 100% happy with the result I got from the equipment now, after a break of 20 years, maybe because the tubes and cassettes are 20 years older too, or maybe I am spoiled by the digital workflow I am using nowadays.
Nevertheless I tried my very best to achieve an analog 4-track cassettesound and an intimate piece of music.

It has the purity and directness of old 4-track. Nice recapture.

I love that delicious drum machine. Fantastic!

I started on a 4-track cassette recorder as well. I miss it sometimes, but I ran it into the ground and it stopped working about 10 years ago.  Love the analog sound.  This track is very nice and hope it brought you some nice nostalgic feelings.

I don't know about that classic stuff, but it sounds nice.

Beautiful time window

boah that sound is awesome nice and warm... the flanged drums are real good!
Bei uns hat das immer soooo gerauscht... ich hätte niemals freiwillig wieder son 4Spur Gerät benutzt... Das muss ich wohl überdenken...
Geil!

Great softly grooving track. I love that warm cassette sound.

I really enjoyed the chord progression and the sound of the guitars (especially the lead towards the end).  Warm Cassette feelings indeed smile

+1 for the guitars. That effect really stretched the pitch in my ears, creates a nice tension. Lovely piece.

oh i'm digging this sound!

It made me glad you could find something nice about the song. Thank you.

man, you had some good beats i missed while being busy these last few weeks. i love the pure-ness of this song. the recording is great and it really captures a time & mood. nicely done. i always enjoy the variety of your creative efforts, keep it up!

Great idea. Love the drum sounds and the atmosphere changing entlang der Songlinie. Weiter so:-)

I'd say it's the flange that's the tricky thing to use to nice effect.  I find less is more for flange.  Lovely lofi guitar and strings.  Very tasty.  Very cool.
