With weekly beat #3, I have officially released more songs in 2024 than in 2023 šŸ™Œ

As a motivated creative person, I often say ā€œIā€™d rather stay in tonight.ā€ But, when compelled to check my messages and notifications, my emotions and logic seem to clash. Am I just addicted? Or am I staying in too much? This song captures that feeling.

I decided to limit myself to a few core tracks instead of doing a full production style like I normally would.

Huge congrats on getting more music out there, nice work.

Very nice, loved the title and the lyrics. "Already know that no one's home" that was gold. I can really relate to the conflict between loneliness/creativeness and not always knowing one's self.

I liked the heavy bass and sparseness with no instrument overplaying it, and the rim shots were tasty.

Btw IS that an Otamatone in your linktree youtube pic? I couldn't find the associated video.

Dude, nice sound on this! The bass and drums are on point! Super chill and relevant as hell track big_smile I also enjoyed the heavy autotune singing! Seems like you know how to use it in a creative way! Also cheers for getting 3 tracks out, it's no joke!

Just wanted to add really nice dreamy piano solo parts!

Very nice relaxed vibe--this just floats through, carrying peace with it.

I was beating my '23 record at week 1, so you're definitely fighting uphill with that
Full production doesn't need more than a few tracks and you used them all very well

Simple is good but this track is lush and you did it wonderfully. Love the vibes from the verb and delay.

great bass riff. Wind cries mary vibes when the song first started. Feel these lyrics, thanks for sharing.

Sweet bass riff! Really solid rhythm section you've built on here. Vibe of the lyrics fits the song perfectly. Congrats on keeping it going!

One constructive comment: I think the spoken voice sounded buried in some places

Because I had the camera rolling but I couldn't play anything half-decent on that thing! Hope to level up and use it eventually lmao

Thanks!!! Your piano parts are definitely motivation for me to level up. Any courses or resources you might recommend?

Thanks! Yeah Circles by Mac Miller was an inspiration track for this one that has a similar vibe

All the verbs. @blighters_rock and I recently got the UAD essentials on black friday so I'm using the Hitsville Chambers on this one mostly and then I've had the galaxy tape echo

Thanks!!! What a comparison... That was not a reference at all but you are right it's pretty similar

Still working on (1) singing well (2) having confidence to turn myself up (3) vocal production lmao

Thank you, happy to motivate! I don't really know, I have tried various random stuff but in the end the best method to improve was to just play a lot, anything at all. Play with backing tracks, play with people, play along to songs, try to compose nice lines etc.

Be deliberate with your practice. For instance, try to play in all 12 keys. But have fun tho, at least for me if it's not fun I end up doing it once and never again - so I never do scales or whatever, but I do get faster by just playing faster even if I play many wrong notes. in the end you get better.

Maybe watch Chick Corea's ~2020 lives if you can find them on facebook or youtube. Also Monty Alexander lives. They talk about music but also life, piano playing but also way of thinking about your music and art. Those guys were lifelines for me in and out of the pandemic.
