Consume Eat Devour

By Podling on January 18, 2020 1:21 pm

This week I started with using the 'give me a random sound' function on freesound, downloading the first 10 sounds that came up as CC0 1.0 Universal (free of copyright). All sounds in the song are created using elements of the 10 sounds. The found sounds include: recordings of a metal stair rail being hit, a wooden clunking sound, computerised voice saying 'Finished', wind/ocean sounds, a creaking door, a metal pot lid being struck, and more... I manipulated the sounds using NI Form and other assorted plugins.

I always dig found sounds and you've managed to turn the random sounds into something very "music" sounding in the proper sense as opposed to just a collection of noises.  Not that there's anything wrong with a good noise collage once in awhile either, but I'm impressed with how you've utilized these sounds.  smile

Nice use of sounds, this is really cool.

My brain kept expecting Tom Waits to start singing, I love the percs you got out of this!

Wow I was JUST thinking the same thing.  From the beginning it sounds very Tom Waits-ish.

Great work with the sounds, @Podling.  Very interesting track.  I really can't get over how much the beginning minute or so sounds like a Tom Waits song (in a good way!)

I had to listen to some Tom Waits after this.  It really reminds me of his song Singapore.  Give it a listen if you've never heard it.  Too bad Waits' voice is so unique and hard to reproduce, otherwise I'd say throw some Tom Waits style vocals on this.

Aah yeaah, Singapore! I finally remembered which track the percs were reminding me of, it's The Earth Died Screaming, also a good one smile
