The Split

By Plantrain on October 21, 2018 10:05 pm

"Bass" and piano from Pianoteq. Volca hi-hats, kick from the Volca and TR-505, acoustic snare combined with the SR-16. (The SR-16 pattern was originally different, but edited to match the acoustic snare). And my two singing bowls.

Excellent use of silence(s). Singing bowls tie everything together on an almost subliminal level.

Singing bowls are the secret sauce here!  Great work.  I would like to be this minimally effective.

Sounds very noir-ish to me.  I can see it soundtracking a scene in a smoky bar room where a femme fatale is talking to a detective or something.

[this is good]

Ooof!  That first piano chord just sets the mood perfectly.  The percussion complements those chords so well too.  I agree with Cosmic it does have a bit of a noir sound to it from the chord progression.  *lights a cigar and nurses his whiskey*

That bass tone is tickling my ears in the right way. Nice boom.
