The Returns

Tried to keep things a little more minimal this week, mainly just drum machines (TR505, SR16 & Volca Beats) and some distorted cello loops. But I couldn't help myself from adding some string pads afterwards to add a bit of tonality, of course this pushed the track from being somewhat cinematic to blatantly cinematic. smile

SR16! Havent touched one of those I years. Last one I had was stuck on a bossa nova beat. I gave it away because for real what can you do with a bossa nova beat? Not this cool ass track!!! Ghosts of drum machines past this one. Spooky cool,

That's what I was thinking too.  SR16!  I've still got mine.  Sentimental value from early industrial bands I played in.  Still a decent drum machine really.  Interesting track btw with the multiple drum machines and brooding effect.  Effective!

nice dark atmosphere, indeed!

I had the HR-16 - clunky piece of shit - but I miss it! Great creepy feel here - like a precursor to something much more sinister

Thanks guys! In fairness to the SR16, I use it regularly, but it is usually 'hidden' by a mxr blue box that makes it somewhat unrecognizable, this time however I played it clean. I think it's a nice drum machine, although most of the sounds are usually a little boring without any effects. Same as most late 80's to early 90's drum machines.
But in this track I think the sound worked quite well.

Reminds me of Abe's Oddysee

Nice atmosphere! would do well in a heist movie (like when they are sneaking in). Well done!

very nice minimalistic attempt. The screaming synths add a wonderful creepy touc to the track! Great!!!

Spooky and tense!  Great atmosphere.
