The End of Phase One

By Plantrain on June 8, 2014 10:12 pm

This week I unearthed an old project (from 2009) that I had never finished back then, and went in for a remix/reconstruction. Most of the vst effects used on the original had gone with my old laptop, so in a sense it was like starting a mix project from scratch.
After a few rounds working on this I decided to go for a version that has the main parts from the original more or less intact, there might be a more radical remix of this some time later this year.

Majorly atmospheric and for some reason makes me picture old machinery.

Almost underwater submarine atmos to it with some lonely dude down there playing an acoustic.  The drum element always enjoyable.  Great use of restraint.

Amazing! Every sound makes it more intriguing. Kind of slowly discovering something you're not sure you should be, but so intriguing that you keep digging... if that makes any kind of sense...

And the start of Phase Two, I hope.

Where can I get some of that restraint rdomain mentions?

Really nice sparse yet dense piece. Great work! And I agree, nice use of restraint... well said, rdomain.

I love the stuff that sounds like a piano frame being used as percussion. Maybe it's just my laptop speakers. But this is really a lovely piece.

Love the unusual acoustic sounds and the intriguing collage of them. Very good stuff!

Thanks, the metallic clicking sound is actually my daughter's metal spinning top toy that I once sampled and then edited to make it work in a more musically rhythmic way.
