Sortie

Drum machines, Pianoteq, Abstract Guitar VST, Absynth bass. And the latest addition to my instrument collection: a cheap and cheerful electric guitar that I bought this week. This caused the last few days to be spent recording poorly played guitar parts, adding effects to make them sound better and then removing them as I realized they didn't add anything of value to the track. A little background guitar got to stay, though.

Sounds like what I do a lot; very effective results.

Subractive mixing and editing is the best method for allowing experimentation and a best end result. Heap everything on during the first part of the process and spend 2/3 of the time lowering levels and removing what does not belong. I like that percussive trilling sound and long whaaaaahs in the background. Great backdrop for the piano melody.
