One and not the Other

By Plantrain on April 8, 2018 10:14 pm

This week's track started with me thinking that it was a long time since I'd used a singing bowl in a track.
So I recorded a few minutes of playing that. Added some effects, and then some low frequency parts from the Reaktor instrument Dron-e and the DSI Mopho.
Started improvising a piano part, but realising that the clean piano sound didn't work, I then added effects until the piano part sounded more like a washed out guitar part. Since this now was heading in a more slow Shoegaze vein I added percussion that fit that direction (the cymbals are live, I didn't have the opportunity to record live drums, so the drums are samples).
Added some synth bass to round it up.
In the background there still is a singing bowl chiming merrily along.

Epic. More singing bowl!

The sound is gentle and soft, feels like my bloody valentine to me, even no guitars in action.

Love the huge sound on this.  I could definitely just close my eyes and get transported somewhere.  I agree with Jim.  Use as much singing bowl as you'd like!

Nice one, wow. Very huge! This fills all the spaces. Love the singing bowl, I agree, more!

Quite soothing.

I agree more singing bowl!  It sounds so full especially once the synth bass comes in.  Had my eyes closed and relaxed throughout

what a cool sound!
