Nonemptiness

By Plantrain on October 7, 2018 10:03 pm

Started with a somewhat half-hearted wish to use other instruments than the usual stuff. But I ended up with the regular setup: drums from the SR16, a drone from the DSI Mopho, Pianoteq pianos and Absynth high pitched synth and bass.
(At one point during the week I decided that being dogmatic about not using piano when I had ideas that sounded best with a piano sound didn't make much sense.)

Yeah I think it's a good idea to use whatever best suits the song.  Is the rumbling sound at the beginning done with drums or is it some kind of sample?  There's a nice mysterious feel to this that's quite nice.  It also gets pretty intense for a bit there in the middle section.

I love how you use an SR-16 in some of these tracks.  Is it those sleigh bell like tones? I should pull mine out as I've still got one from an early industrial band I was in.

Don't beat yourself up over using the same setup.  The result is beautiful and gorgeous.  I'd take issue if you used the same set up and the results were awful, but this is very emotionally exciting.  Great stuff.

It creates a solemn and paradoxically paranoid atmosphere. I really like this.

Thank you!

There are two tracks from the SR-16: the rumbling is a pattern of toms and bass drums, the sleigh bell like sound is a pattern of various high-pitched percussion, with the Memory Boy delay pedal on the verge of feedback.

Great use of the SR-16 then.  Nice work.

Excellent use of the SR-16 and the main melody has such ominous feel to it.  Your usual setup always sounds great to me.  I wouldn't change a thing, just let what comes natural to ya smile
