Inside the Machine

By Plantrain on January 5, 2014 9:20 pm

Based around some heavily tremoloed cello samples and a simple repeated beat. A mix of some instruments recorded live and some sampled. Some tracks recorded and then left unedited and some tracks cut up and reordered to make the final mix.

You set the mode nicely.  I like.  It's always nice to hear some live instruments in the mix too.

Excellent--I love the swampy feel of this.  You're suspending time!

Great sound design, it's awesome

It is swampy, but also space. Like, a swamp in space. I dunno, but it's really cool.
It reminds me of the spore spawn monster in Super Metroid.

Absolutely love this track. Big thick lumbering atmospheres. Maybe lumbering through this space swamp people speak of? I don't know. But I do know I favorited it and enjoyed it immensely.

10/10 Another song I would put in a point and click adventure.

Thats deeeeeep... perfect for game / movie's background score! I'd just call it an atmospheric loop than a track though. If I were to retouch this, I'd add some more defining elements to it, may be a pause to that tremeloed for a moment somewhere after 60%, some stereo-treated additional drum-hits for that cinematic feel. Lovely outro with that bass! Make it a perfect loop, and it'd be taken up by any A grade gaming corps. big_smile

Cheerz,

Keeping the drums like that is really fresh.  Enjoying the atmosphere.

The drums sound amazing. Reminds me of late Talk Talk/'O'rang stuff!

(you should definitely check out 'O'rang if you haven't heard them already)

sick, and super drony too

Ooh yes.  Very, very nice. *added* smile

Turned out that I listened to alot of Coil in 2k13...fits in nicely with that. Very good.

Thanks for all the kind words! I have never really considered the music I make as potential game soundtracks before, maybe I should consider a companion project of weekly loops :-)
'O'rang was a good tip, I know Talk Talk quite well having been involved in music that have been compared to them before, but had not heard 'O'rang before. Thanks!
