I started working on this track with the idea that I should try to do another track with the same sounds I used for last week's track (a bassy synth sound and Pianoteq piano) but make a less minimal track. But then I started adding stuff, resulting in a track that I realized I had no real plan or vision for. And every time I tried to remove something the track started falling apart.
There are parts here that I like, and there are parts here that I'm not sure about. But compositionally I painted myself into a corner that I couldn't find my way out of.

What did I learn? If I don't have a plan I'm relying on luck, and then if I'm not lucky I'm stuck. (Yeah, I know that in composition, luck is a skill.) I'm hoping for better luck next time! :-)

I comprehend your frustration. you are working on a high standard for minimalism results. that makes it so difficult for you. Still you have created a dark and vivid cinematic piece of music. good luck next week.

Oh boy, I have tapes and hard drives filled with "painted into corner" things.  An amazing loop, a super strong chorus, a really crazy sound - all things where I don't know how to transition in or out of.

The nice thing about WB is that you actually released it, and in that sense you can kind of "let go" of the ideas in this configuration, and then revisit them in a future one.

I think there's a lot to like here.  It has a kind of spooky vibe and then when the percussion kicks in it gets a little jolt of energy.  I like the little crackling sounds that pop up from time to time as well.

Definitely understand that frustration of luck vs planning.  That being said I think this has a nice vibe similar to 'A New Mind'.  The bass instantly took me back to it.  I know you were going for something more minimal but I think this had a nice development throughout.  For me it's the over saturation of listening to your own track and ear fatigue that causes that frustration.  But more often than not, you find once you release it and let others give their feedback, it takes on new life smile
