All Sweetness and Light

By Plantrain on October 28, 2018 5:18 pm

This week's track started, as most other tracks do, with drum machines and drones. But not being totally happy with how the different elements worked together I decided to remove almost everything but the Piano tracks, and switching instruments on the midi tracks that weren't piano. So this is all Pianoteq, but with a sound that's probably closer to a synthetic guitar than it is to a classic grand piano.

Some drums might liven the place up a bit, just as long as they don't go crazy, a closed hat hit every half bar or so.

Wow I'd never guess this was all Pianoteq. Some haunting sounds. Amazing

Yeah, that fuzzy saturated piano in the background has a guitar like quality. Not missing the drums. The percussive nature of the pianos and that pulsing drone sound provide movement. Nice vibe!

Yeah there are some cool sounds on this that I wouldn't associate with piano.  I agree I don't think drums are necessary.  There's a propulsiveness to some of the piano lines that works.

lovely!

Moderated hyperpiano! Percussion would take everything in a entirely different direction (one that might be worth exploring).

Thank you all for taking the time to listen and comment!

Actually, if I'd had more time I might have added some drums/percussion. As it was this week I just had to choose a direction and stick by my choice if I was going to be able to finish the track on time.

A very calming track and love what you did with pianoteq.  If I ever purchase it myself, it's totally your fault! tongue  I need to try the demo out soon.

Thanks, the demo is worth checking out. It's got a time limit and a few muted notes, but it'll give you a good sense of what it's about.
