Sister

I joined a band last year called "Jonah!" and over the winter I helped them record our first EP. This week I finished the first draft of the mixes. I would appreciate any feedback on the mixing/mastering especially.

This song was primarily written and performed by my band member Luke Ratkus. I'm on guitar.

I really like the song, I think the mix sounds fine, I think you could make the difference between the 'soft' and the 'loud' parts even more pronounced, maybe make the cymbals and the bass softer during the verses, I really like the edge of the song, sounds very cool

Good song!

Loudness-wise this is pretty spot on to what Spotify wants. You're at -13 LUFS with -0.25 dBTP. Spotify will slightly turn it out to match -14 LUFS, at which point it will also match their required -1 dBTP. So, all in all no complaints there!

You have over a second of silence at the start of the track, you might want to trim that.

The drums are rather at the back of the mix. If that's what you're going for then great. It does sound good. Just noting that the the kick and the toms aren't particularly loud. Sidechaining the bass with the kick and tom tracks might give the drums more punch.

Thank you both! That is really practical and useful advice. I appreciate the listen.

So good. Got a bandcamp link yet?

Absolutely fantastic! Can't wait for the album!

Are you doing all the mixing & mastering yourself or planning on sending to someone for the final?

Thanks! We just dropped the soft release yesterday. Here is the Bandcamp link. The whole project was pretty DIY in my basement all the way through mastering.
