I have decided, after some reflection and hopefully some amount of wisdom that this is rather unsustainable. I haven't enjoyed making quite a few of these tracks because some are just not tracks I particularly want to make, and others I just cannot put the time into.

It's a shame that I won't really be able to hit all 52 weeks again, but I will be sure to put the energy where it matters most.

Bummer to hear you haven't been enjoying yourself. Why do you think that is?

Nice piano track! Ahh it's made by clicking midi notes? It seems like a lot of effort, but also totally intentional compositionally since you have to click everything in place. Sounds pretty cool anyway! It takes some skill to write this way, but idk at what cost in terms of time and frustrations. I never make anything this precise but I play and I like the sound to be a bit more sloppy (maybe my playing is too sloppy at times but I hope the humanness makes up for it). Sorry to hear about your experience making the tracks. I think it's the first time I hear any of your songs (maybe?). I suppose it could be good to try some new workflows that are more fun for you? hope you continue making music!

I'm in my last year of university, a collection of full time classes, a composer role on a game, and other work and external obligations make most week submissions into a "oh, I've gotta go and pump something out" type ordeal rather than what I register as a genuine creative expression. I will say that there are exceptions to that, but that feeling has been much more common as of late.

I suppose I never did question it, but I do make all of my music by manually inputting MIDI. It is a fast workflow, but that isn't really the problem for me. The combination of my external stresses and the lack of creative fulfillment is the big thing. I won't stop making music, but I think that the weekly deadline and also trying to satisfy YouTube needs to be changed.

Usually what we do when we feel it's getting overwhelming/tedious, we do a pivot. Try something new, pick up an instrument and just play in front of a microphone, play with signatures, stuff like that. Consistency is good to have, but it should still be fun.
This song is beautiful, by the way. You can totally use this as a foundation for something else, which is also a way to lighten the load, just not compose anything and touch up something else.
