PERSIST

Another M8 track. This week I recorded a sample of water flowing under the ice in a stream near my home to serve as inspiration for this pseudo-ambient track.

I had intended to have another synth part in this, but after several attempts, I decided to leave it as it is here. Nothing I came up with managed to improve the track, and ended up taking away from the "choral" line, in my opinion.

Again, I'd love any feedback or suggestions you might have if you're actually reading this!

Sample recorded on my phone. I think everything else in internal M8 synths. Track rendered directly out of the M8.

Very atmospheric, well done!

Thank you!

I agree: very atmospheric!  The occasional dashes of higher-pitched movement over the constant tonal "drone" of the bass + leads are really effective.  The rare bass/chord shifts like the one at 3:00 really stand out.

Thanks! I basically did one chord progression of Cm, Ab, Fm, G7, Cm. I had the idea of making a "melody" that would slowly work its way through that, but I didn't manage to get anything that I liked. So I'm glad you enjoyed the effect in the end! Thanks for listening and commenting!

Very cool song and certainly one I wouldn't make typically.

The sound textures are great, so maybe just some change up in the low end? Like some rhythm pattern changes that play counter to the droning? I think of metal gear solid and they sort of have this drawn-out sneaking vibe, but there are parts that stand out as different and kinda bring you back into the music loop. Either way nice work!

Thanks so much! I do feel something more is needed here, but I just wasn't finding it. I will check out the MGS you suggested for inspiration on how I could add to this. I really appreciate the feedback!

I like the way the sounds you have all work together, somehow very hypnotic and engaging at the same time. Someone mentioned MGS, I think I also get a little bit of Deus Ex soundtrack vibes as well. Nice job!

Thank you! I thought this song was going to have more going on but it kinda took me in an unexpected direction. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for taking the time leave your impressions here! I'll check out the Deus Ex soundtrack too.
