Jung's Advice for Later Life

By Pescadito on February 22, 2026 9:57 pm

I had a lot of fun making this! I tried a different approach this time, kinda low effort on the recording side: I have just used my iPhone or my MacBook microphones to record different elements.

It all started from a drum beat I played on live drums (just for fun) and recorded with only my phone to check the practice. Out of convenience (and curiosity of the outcome) I placed my phone right on the floor tom pointing at the snare. That's what makes the kick boom... I then tried to make the drums sound bigger by separating the elements with EQ and different effects.

I then tried to make the whole thing without even connecting my interface. I played all the parts on the laptop keyboard and recorded the shaker and the clap with the Mac internal mic. Synth bass, strings, organ, electric piano.

As I was enjoying the groove, I remembered of a video I watched of Carl Jung being interviewed in 1959.

So I thought it would be cool to make a piece with some of his reflections.

I tried to make a quick mastering but it was late, so I think I screwed it up a bit and you can hear some clipping here and there... sorry for that!

Enjoy it!

NOTE
------
This track incorporates excerpts from a 1959 Face to Face television interview with Carl Gustav Jung, conducted by John Freeman and originally broadcast by BBC Television. The original recording remains the property of the BBC and is used here for artistic purposes.

Oh wow! Such an interesting track!! Works so well with the Carl Jung interview!!

hahh it is indeed better to live on.

gets very good at 4min, that drop! and the sparse hits make it feel quite heavy, goes well with the reflections!

thanks my friend. I first made a first version where the drop was not so intense and the lyrics were from another section of the interview. then I decided to add the violins and cello to create tension along with the heavy topic of the interview. glad to hear you liked it!
