I play while you're drawing

By Pescadito on May 5, 2024 9:52 pm

Hi all! after a miss of a last week, I did not really made much this week either ...

This is an improvised song with the only defined idea opening and closing the song (1 take only). I then recorded an electric guitar on top that tries to accompany the classic guitar, also in one take.  Low effort due to low energy. Still it was fun to play chords and lines freely without too much thinking.

The title comes from the fact that I played the song in the living room while my girlfriend was drawing. It was a chilled Sunday moment.

Recorded with a Zoom H1n.

nice to keep active with an impro submission! the recording sounds great! the chords are a little random like floating with the waves in whichever direction.

I think this kind of layered impro shows how important it is that musicians react to each other, cause when you layer your own playing you can only react one way. unless you leave space ahead of time (basically a real-time composition which is hard to do) there's not much to do about it.

an idea is also to keep switching layers, re-recording the first one with the reaction of the reaction until it becomes a bit more like two parts playing together, but it also involves a lot of takes... I never did it but some guys talked about it in improcamp smile

so good. almost has a flamenco feel to it at times. then goes into these really jazzy riffs. love this. great work!!
