Medlex

This week's track is a bit confusing. Everytime i sat down on developing the song further the outcome was going into another direction. Deadline was near so i saw no other way but to melt these 3-4 small differing snippets somehow to get something finished. There are selfrecorded field recordings, relaxed piano, some glitch and even some straight beats in the end. I would suggest to just call it a medley to get it approved as a song :-)

Looking forward to hear your opinions and to listen to your shining new tracks!

Glitchy rhythm holds it all together. Stately yet trippy (literally).

Love that modulating bass line and the piano melds nicely within the mix.  Nice one!

I always look forward to your tracks. Great work.

Song, medley, call it what you want, this is one of my favorite tracks so far!! Blown away once again...
I'm curious, what do you have on your drum bus? You always do such a tremendous job of making the drums and bass sit so well in the track, and although I know it's not going to be some simple answer like "oh I just add SoundsGreatVST to everything" I'm eager to learn as much as I can smile

This is really, really nice! Lovely vibe to this and excellent and tasteful glitching. Your artwork is top notch as usual smile

Groovy and trippy! Sweet tunes per usual

I love how the field recording parts whiz around my head.  The piano sounds amazing as always with those awesome thick crunchy beats. I love how the mid range synths sit nicely with the bass too. I would totally like a "soundsGreatVST" plugin ! smile

Once again some excellent mixing. All the deep end and airy sounds well placed. Very well done. Great track too;)

Excellent stuff, the rhythms holds the track together very well, so in my book it very much qualifies as a song. The production work is top notch as usual. Great one!

Hey! Thank you so much for your feedback! After reading your question i took the chance and created an ableton effect chain with my most often used inserts on the drumbus. Hopefully you're using Ableton smile

http://www.perplexon.com/downloads/DRUM … EX.adg.zip

Basically this is the chain: Multiband Compressor - Multiband Compressor used as an Expander - Gate (optional) - EQ - Glue Compressor (as parallel compressor) - EQ (to cut low and high end).

Wow!! Thank you so much!! Can't wait to dissect this smile Seriously, thanks for putting this together, super excited to "peak inside your brain" wink

you're very welcome! But honestly, there's no fancy ableton chaining going on and i didn't check all the levels in the chain so it could get quick too hot. i''m sure it could be far more advanced, but most of the time it does the job when i feel the drums could get a little push. And of course sometimes you don't need all fx in the chain. And last but not least i tend to sidechain all other tracks to the drumtrack, even in very small amounts, this gives the drums even more room. Feel free to modify and improve it as you like (if so i would be very grateful if you share it smile ) Cheers!

thanks a lot! Don't know if you're interested or could even use it, but since you mentioned the "soundsgreatVST" i don't want to keep quiet about a small ableton live fx chain i tend to use on my drumbus. (see post above). Cheers!

that's awesome! thank you for sharing, just downloaded now and gonna have a look-see..  My favorite thing about ableton is how you can share such things like this.  Thanks a bunch smile

Glitch-gorgeous. Really enjoyed the transitions, magical.

Medley? then why didn't you put ABBA in it?!?
