Impact (live impro video)

By Perplex On on August 23, 2014 7:27 pm

Unlike the last weeks i have no perfectly produced track this week but a live and uncut improvisation performed in my homestudio. I'm not too happy with the outcome musically but had no time to do another run. But what i've learned thanks to weeklybeats is that it can't always be a masterpiece. Furthermore maybe it's interesting in a more technical view. Hope you enjoy!

I like how you look like a mad scientist when you make music, meanwhile I look like I'm just checking my email.

Superb.
Really fun to watch!
Completely mixed it up there!
Raspect!

Wow, that was freaking excellent. Really freaking excellent. How great to see the technical setup. I'm particularly fascinating by the tupperwear and induction coil, again.

Mannnnnn theres alot of great things to be learned her. maybe someday?....

if you look closely then you will realize how much the tupperware is looking like robocop's nipple

awesome performance btw

Totally loving the induction coil!  And from there it develops wonderfully.  Great melodies, textures, and arrangement of the layers!

Absolutely love it! A brilliant performance and a great track. And it's a great bonus to get to watch how it's done. Did I mention that I loved it?

The video totally "makes" this.  It looks like futuristic music making.  I could totally picture Tom Cruise pretending to do this in a science fiction movie.  Really cool stuff.

i love improvisation, thanks for sharing

Excellent. So inspirational, and so much fun to watch you play.

What they said!

Thank you sooooo much for your overwhelming feedback, mates! This alone makes the effort worth it! Thanks!

Hahaha too true for me as well. This is awesome and the vid definitely adds to my awe

Yeah, wow. That tupper thing, is that your invention? The visual feedback is rockin'. Great improvisation, too. This must look awesome in a dark club.

Oh man, thanks so much for posting this, really really enjoyed it!
Now I have so many questions about your setup though, need to gather my thoughts! lol

"invention" sounds so elaborated and serious, but yeah, let's say creation. I will defintely take it to the club next time smile Thanks a lot for watching!!!

thanks a lot for watching in return smile !!! Well if you ever have more questions feel free to dig deeper!

Awesome stuff mate.  Even the video editing/shooting is cool.  How many cameras did you use?  Other people helping film it?  And I really have to hook up my Leap Motion to Serenade.  Sounds great.  The main bit I couldn't work out is what is lighting up your tupperware bowl?

Thanks mate! The lighting is a self-built Arduino-based design running 2 RGB LED-stripes responsive to the amplitude/frequency. It's all done inside of Ableton, using maxforlive's amplitude follower and maxuino to send the data to the arduino. Hope that helps!

Oh, forgot: There were 4 cameras involved (on tripods). No help. The close-ups in motion were filmed right after the improv and cut in between in post.

just wanted to say how friggin cool this is!  Had to check it out again, I wish I could figure out a clean setup to record stuff but the video editing is where my brain goes kaboom smile  Anywho, yah this track rocks!
