Languid Milk

M8's random name generator comes through again.

Still obsessed with Pluto, but this time I let it play with a friend. Pluto ran un-synced and every take was a surprise every time the M8 raised the input volume.

All structured perc/bass/etc. from M8. All presets, modified to some extent. Random FM-y stuff from Pluto, thanks to the random sequence generator and the shuffle jack. Man I love shuffle. Now that I understand it.

You said sth about a mental block you overcame with the M8. Just out of curiosity - what was the block about? And what was your workaround?
I have no idea what Pluto is (yet), but it sounds spacey!

My biggest hurdle with it has always been the minutiae of chain management. Tweaking phrases inside chains to get the arrangement I wanted always took forever and I ended up with ridiculous numbers of chains.

The other day I was using it and wished I could just not use chains and instead populate the song with just phrases. And immediately realized that…I can just do that.

So now my chains just contain one phrase each, and I can make songs as smoothly on it as I can on anything else. All because I realized the glaringly obvious. I had the dumb. 🤷

Really cool ambiance and interesting sound design!

This is so good! Urgent sneakin' around music for when you are Up To No Good (TM). Great percussion & I don't know what the shuffle jack is, but I'm 100% on board. You are a walking advertisement for the Pluto

I am LOVING the soundscape here, fantastic!!! Ominous, dangerous and maybe even a bit adventurous, too! Super fun. Happy to hear you're back on the M8 train too! Welcome back, we saved a spot just for you smile

Lovely noisy textures. The percussion is great - really digging the punchy/clicky kicks, that sound is my vibe.

Thank you all for the kind words and taking the time to listen!

took a few tries, but I'm getting into it
Feels like a stealth mission in a sci-fi industrial thing

I appreciate you persevering! But you really don't need to do that, no hard feelings if you're not digging it. smile
