yearn for sun (M8)

By Perhaps Bry on January 4, 2026 11:11 pm

EDIT: This one seems to have rendered improperly with crackles etc, sorry about that, will reupload soon!

M8 render, no samples - all instruments/drums/etc synthesized from scratch, mostly FMSYNTH.

Going for a kinda motown vibe with classic pop instruments.  Mainly focusing on sound design this first week -- congos, tambourines, an attempt at piano chords, guitar riffs.  Many of these are heavily modified instruments from WB2024 tracks or livesets from the last couple years.

Main groove+textures were written in an hour on a plane back to Vancouver from Toronto.  I'll be much busier this year than previous years because of various life things, but just thought i'd put together something quick for this first week.  Hope everyone has a fruitful WB2026!

btw I'll be performing an M8 synths-only set at Interrupt Festival in Melbourne, Australia on March 6th-7th!  https://www.interruptfestival.com.au/  (use the code "octopus" for a spicy discount)

sick stuff! i don't know which 'zone' this is, but i would spend lots of time there

✨🪩🕶️

really great stuff, the piano chords are spot on!

keen to catch ya in melb! happy 2026 wb!! this is very bouncy and lovely smile

Ayyyy!  Summer fun - EVEN THO U IN WINTER.  Interesting about the clicks - sounds maybe like clipping?  Did you use the 24 bit mode?  I had a few different-than-expected artefacts on my render vs. play-out too.  For now I'm just gonner roll in sound card mode and do a realtime play.

Love the percussion in this.  It sounds spot on - so much control of that FM synth... :-o

See ya soon and yeah, lets jam!

No samples!? You madman! Fantastic sounddesign!

Bouncy percussions are nice! Would be cool to hear slowed down version of this or maybe one without drums!

Really amazing sound design!

So fun. the title is so very apt! vibin' out to it!

loving the vibe from beginning to end.  Excellent drum groove and fills.  +1 awesome sound design!

Tropical Bossa Chiptune Citypop Jazzy Muzak for the soul. No idea what this style is but I'm down for it.

superb sound design again! can't wait to hear this stuff live!

What kind of FM synth master are you? This is phenomenal! Excellent sound design and a fun, catchy performance with lots of nuance and groove.

I love this vibe, it's so pleasant.

Ayyyyyyy this is, like, super cool. I was about to type that it gives me a real tropical sort of vibe and then I saw the title, so well done XD

That sure is a nice lead. Love your work, can't wait to hang again in March smile

really a stand out track due to your sound design! it's all very fluid and clear

hold on let me get my sunglasses
