Wolf & Goat No. 1

By parappayo on May 29, 2026 5:19 am

I wanted to feature the Akai Rhythm Wolf a bit more. It's a challenge to work with in the mixing and mastering stage. I'm not very good at things like taming rogue frequencies and getting clarity out of the noise without clipping so... yeah, here we are. I'd like to turn this into a series, so this is "No. 1" and the title is both in acknowledgement of the greatness of the 303 as well as the name of a burrito (the "Wolf & Goat") from a local restaurant. I liked how the hi-hats turned outs. The kick and "snare" are pretty rough though.

can't believe i've never heard of the rhythm wolf before!  that looks so fun/cool

that's a intense name for a burrito smile

That's the accompaniment to the infamous Timbre Wolf then, I assume? It sounds primitive and rough. The tone of the kick drum isn't all that bad. But it does lack impact. I actually like the noise burst of the snare. Anyway, squelching acid is squelchy. It definitely sounds and feels like it comes from a different era.

Akai Rhythm Wolf

COME ON!

Awesome hi hat sound.

That 303 sound is absolutely beastly love it.

I can always tell who watches Bad Gear when the Rhythm Wolf comes out. big_smile

Always love me some acid drum machine workouts, this is fantastic thank you for this! On avoiding clipping - hell, I wouldn't hesitate to throw this whole thing into a compressor and just absolutely slam it with saturation too - keep it punk!

Ahhh, good old wolf! You get a great, dry texture out of it here.

Once I year I go to a cabin in the mountains with a couple of friends, one of them always fires up his Rhytm Wolf there. big_smile
