Great song, Ray!

This is a Tsutchie edit correct? It's nice.

This is mint.

this is fantastic!

Loving the track, man. Very, very, cool

thanks guys smile @OK Illumi: not an edit. just sampled the strings.

good stuff

Hell yeah!

Sliced like a ninja.  Lovin' it.  You a Dilla fan by any chance? ;-)

One of my favourites for the week.

freshness

thanks a lot for the positive response everyone. very much appreciated

ahhhh yesss!!! love it!

Those strings are sublime.  I could listen to this on repeat.  In fact, I might...

I like this a lot.  If this was accepted then I guess we're allowed to use copyrighted samples after all.

yes! 90s and groovy stuff

damn, so fresh.

BOOM! BAP!

oh man this is so nice. sunday breakfast music

Nice! Needs badly some vocal sample though...

@DL<3: yeah, i wasn't too sure myself. but since i only used 6 seconds from the original, added my own drums, sequencing, slices, etc. i figured it was creative enough. however, i'm going to try and avoid samples in the future. even though i love using them for hip hop wink

@DL, It's always been a grey area - especially with hiphop.  There are multiple categories of (c) - performance rights and notational rights.  Typically you have gotten around notational writes if it's less than 4 or 5 notes in a row in the same key at a different tempo (which this totally does).  Performance rights is trickier but if it's pitched around and sliced to less than about a second (done in this tune)  then it's generally considered as a textually different work too.  I think T80 is talking about using sometime more than about a second and letting it play in it's original form.... whether that be samples from a film, tune or youtube clip.

@ctrix: thanks for clearing that up. i felt a little awkward after having uploaded this track
once i read the forum thread about sampled material on the site.  after reading your comment,
i went back and timed the sample and the complete sample, unedited, is under 2 seconds.
i was throwing 6 out as a guess.  i may have to get my J-Dilla on more in the coming weeks smile

This is awesome, glad to hear some hip hop hear! Might have to bust out my MPC in following weeks for some Dilla-esque action:)

nice ... like that songs you make, somehow overlooked it, but finally here I am. Missed your tune for this week, didn't you get something? Would love to hear even a WIP ... by the way, do you have Skype/MSN/AIM oder ICQ? If yes, write me a PM with your nick so that we can exchange some stuff here and there. Cheers!

thanks a lot wheely.  i didn't have something for the second week because my laptop needed some repairs.  i do have Skype but the easiest way to get a hold of me is via e-mail.  [email protected]  send me stuff! smile

Poppin' tune.  Would be sweet with some rhymes over it.

Fantastic sampeling and amazing drums. Great to hear such a gorgeous hip hop track smile keep up the good work.

P.S All I kept thinking about was how much better this would have been if Common laid some vocals on it haha.

Aaahh! Finally someone playing 90's HipHop!! Love it! Too much electro or chip sound in here (even if there's quality)!
I don't know if you know Memorecks, but check it, he's awesome and really sound like you ^^

The start stop string sound. Love it.
