Anthony's Got His Work Cut Out For Him

By PantherMountain on January 14, 2024 5:27 pm

Who scores their own wedding?  Cause you know, there's not enough to worry and stress about without having to write 45 minutes of beautiful music.  Going to be half originals and half acoustic punk covers.  I'll be sure to post my originals as they get finished up.

This all started with one of my Fiancé's favorite songs being Chuck Ragan's cover of the Alkaline Trio song Bleeder.  It is far from wedding appropriate, but I told her I could arrange a pretty version of the song for her to walk down to.  She didn't believe me, but when I showed her my rendition, she teared up.

This is going is going to be for the wedding party, so will most likely have to get extended (or we just walk really fast)

Wrote this on an electric, and it shows with my performance here.  Not super happy with my playing, but my fingers hurt, so this is what we got.  Need to get my Acoustic chops back.

All Acoustic guitars recorded direct with my Parker P8.  Never heard an acoustic direct sound so usable for recordings.  It has a magnetic pickup at the base of the neck which just brings the sound to life, instead of that dull piezo sound.

Guitar - Parker P8ETB, Tom Anderson Classic T
Bass - Dingwall NG4
Misc - Ebow

Really cool project. Good luck with it!
Like the high line for this (synth?). Adds a nice atmosphere.
Nice to see a shoutout to Alk3 and Ragan too. New Alk3 is pretty sick!

I know I know, but after I floated the idea to my fiancé, she loved it, so who was I to say no.  Plus it's an excuse to use all these finger style etudes I've written over the years and have nowhere to use.  Thanks for listening!

Thank you, it's one of my favorite to play whenever a guitar ends up in my hands, so it was nice to finish it for Week 2

Thanks!  It's actually five different guitar lines with my Ebow.  I bought my first Ebow close to 20 years ago.  It's made countless appearances on every style of song I've recorded.  That poor first one was super glued back together so many times.

And thanks for checking it out!  I got pretty covers from No Use for a Name, AFI, Frank Turner, NOFX, all my friends bands that will be at the wedding, and probably more planned.  Gonna be a fun 8 months to get everything written and recorded.

Great playing! The electric -> acoustic jump is super rough >.<. I often tune down to help or use silk and steel strings (it occurs to me these might not work well through pickups). Super cool use of the Ebow as well, it compliments the acoustic guitar nicely. Beautiful composition, especially for the purpose smile

the guitar work is gorgeous and super well recorded. congrats! (and good luck lol such an ambitious project but super cool)

Thanks for listneing.  I got another one in the works for Week 4, so hopefully I can find the time to make it happen

Whoa, this is direct out of your acoustic jack?  I would have guessed higher end condenser for sure, great sound.

Instrumentation is great on here also, I had to google ebow to figure out what the pad was.  That's a pretty wild sound.

You got this, this sounds wonderful and I'm sure everyone there would agree.

Parker has always been so far ahead of everyone else.  Shocked that this pickup combo hasn't been more widely adopted.  This was my first attempt too, it's getting way better as I dial it in.

And Ebow's have been a part of all my music for close to 20 years, so it didn't feel right doing these songs with a string samples.  Knew I had to make my own.  Thanks for the compliments!

Thanks as always.  I'm very excited to start covering friend's songs to surprise them at the wedding too.
