The Forest

I had a cold this week, and started grabbing acoustic instruments....

The main theme of this song is based off a strummed balalaika. The drums are about three layers thick - it's a main riff off my drum kit (I'm awful at drums), which I then doubled on an RD-6 and a software 808. I like how it cracks.

I added more instruments with a penny whistle, and my wife singing a few themes (she provided the main melodic theme for the song).

I'd like to have added a musical lift to this - as it is, it runs the same chord structure the entire song. But that's something to experiment with for another week.

This is a solid diversion from the dark industrial I've been enjoying from you! The vocals are perfect (and I love the pennywhistle accents), and the whole thing is delicate and ethereal, even after the beat kicks in nice & hard at 3:14. Super cool!

Thanks! I think I had a sound/feel in my head for this one that I didn't quite achieve, which is why I'm a little down on it. I'm glad it was still a good listen smile

I also love how the vocals turned out in this (and I have joked about how, as usual, her vocals are the best part of anything we do together. She usually just give me a Look at that point)....we have plans for more projects to work on, both WB and otherwise.

Love the combination of electronic and acoustic instruments. The vocals sounds amazing and that flute melody will be stuck in my head for a while now smile

witcher vibes! nice arrangement w old and new sounds

A beautiful voice, a nice flute and a good beat. The balalaika is a nice addition, makes it really mysterious.
