That's Something

By Paisleyfrog on March 3, 2024 9:14 pm

I was going to be totally OK with not getting a song done this week. Work was intense, and I caught my wife's cold. But I got something done!

I've been doing electronic music music up until this point, but everything I started this week was...uninspired to say the least. So, I picked up a guitar. I continue to be shocked at how much I love the telecaster clone I got off Wish. Twangy and clean, but growls when I want.

The title is what I said when I laid down the main riff on Friday night: "Well, that's that's something." It's been forever since I've done a rock song with lyrics, so I just did a word salad with thematically correct lyrics...I think I finished the words in ten minutes or so. That's Something. Also, I will admit that I channelled the hell out of Tom Petty for this song...in which case, having a cold was probably OK.

Classic. Rock. This is SO GOOD. I am jealous of your ability to dive into different genres. The only thing that could possibly make this ear candy sweeter: backing vocals! Since your wife got you sick, she might owe you some harmonies....
Love the power chords & organ.

Totally agree, I want to have her do some backing vocals on this! I was trying to do some of my own “ohhhs” at the bridge. And it was…awful LOL. Something to work on for the next Spaces Beyween album. 😊

It is more than something, it is a pretty complete song!

It is fine not to have something to say, most of the time I am the same.

I really like the track, cool guitar tones. I do own a Fender Telecaster, it is crazy sometimes how those China made guitars are good compared to the "real" thing (for the price).

Well played!

Thanks! It's an amazing time to be a musician - the bang for the buck on current inexpensive instruments is mind blowing.

Amazing track that was almost not made! even more funny that the lyrics are based on "I almost didn't make a track" hahaha - at first I didn't pay attention, the flow just sounds so natural and pro.

Oh my god...what's even funnier is that it was completely unintentional. I just went back and listened to it, and it absolutely works for "I have no lyrics this week". I'm dyin' here.

This is more than something. Guitar is always a good default.
