Sadism

By Paisleyfrog on February 18, 2024 4:54 pm

I had almost given up on getting a song done this week. I swear, I started this track three times this week. It finally clicked on Saturday.

It all started when I found The Sadist (1963, public domain). Thereโ€™s a great speech about 25 minutes in that I pretty much built the song around. I had spent some time getting my audio rack repaired, so I finally made some initial use of outboard effects. Looking forward to reworking my studio to make better use of that, as well as reducing the noise floor.

Sequenced in Logic Pro
RD-6
XV-5080
TD-3
ProVSMini
Wasp
Guitar and bass
Plus outboard effects (Digitech and ART)

Good effort. Like how dark it is ๐Ÿ‘

this is cool! nice track

where do you source your movies from? I would love to find more samples like this one

So deliciously ominous and relentless! I love the quote - you always find the best lines. I also love when you incorporate actual guitar & bass to bring your tracks to the next level.

Thanks! It fought me, but I like where it ended up (for the most part).

Archive.org! I usually sort by the 40s to the 60s or so in the movie category...tends to have that sound and feel smile  The category of "ephemeral films" has some gems as well. I'll download a bunch to my Sample Fodder folder and then do a deeper scan to see if it has anything worth using.

Thanks! I was bouncing up and down when I found that speech, it was just perfect. I think that was partially what fought me...trying to follow that energy and make it feel coherent.

I'm having a ton of fun bringing in guitars...thinking about some of the other instruments I have in the basement, see what else might fit...
