Reading, Writing and Reefer

By Paisleyfrog on February 25, 2024 6:48 pm

Another track that built itself around a sample - in this case, a 1978 public domain clip from an anti-marijuana news special called "Reading, Writing and Reefer." I mean, come on.

It all came together fast, and ended up being way harder than I expected. Started out goofy, ended up being pretty full-on industrial. Also got a melodica this week, and had to use that as well because hell yeah.

Sequenced in Logic Pro

Guitar, bass and melodica
And a handful of software instruments

Very cool sounds in this smile

This is great! It sounds like a brooding, witness-interviewing montage from a noir detective movie from the early 90s. Probably the reverby/delay-y melodica. I like how big it sounds, and there always seems to be something new happening on the edges!

Mandatory headboppage with a beat like this cool

These are some amazing sounds, great work!
