First, it is good to see Ryu prominently featured on the washing machine. (by the way have you seen the trailer for SF6? It looks awesome, I really love the design and the animations/effects).
It's a catchy, moody track. The video is hypnotic. I like how a lot of scenes are angled so hat you don't really see the gorund and it's focused on attractions that are about losing control of balance. It's impossible to hold a ground as the centrifugal forces twist you and pull you around. The sensory overload of the lights intensifies that image of being overwhelmed by the external world and not being able to take control back, and not being able to be stable on one's feet. The weird imagery that comes with that kind of parks, between the plastic ducks with shades, the eye in the pyramid, and the pharaoh's mask, contribute to the feeling of a dream, or this weird patchwork of elements straight from the subconscious.
The only stable elements in this video are Frank's and your face. As if you're the only stable element, like caught in a tornado.
Stigma around counseling is a shame. I believe all of us need mental support. We've all been stunted one way or another, some of us more than others, and having a support framework to get better, live better, without falling in the hands of charlatans, be they cult leaders or drug dealers. I hope you'll get better soon!
Just took one of those intake questionnaires, mine maxed out at "Nearly Every Day" ...I was like, ok if you insist Love the video. SOme days we ride the carnival, and other days the carnival rides us. Hugs to you, Orange!
"There shouldn't be any shame in asking for help but I'm one to talk because I'm in a one man band" lol.
I've been going to counseling for about a year now, it's been a tremendous help. I've been working through a lot of issues I've had about confrontation and social anxiety and it gave me an outlet during an incredible difficult period of my life that, unfortunately, music couldn't really whisk me away from. So yeah, it shouldn't be stigmatized and I too really recommend people schedule an appointment if they're looking for help.
AND GOD DAMN. The volume of the track was jolting right after that intro lol. Really nasty track man, really vicious guitar tone. Vocal lines were great too, really fills out the upper register of the tune.
Also, I'll try to make a habit of copy/pasting my comments from here to your youtube videos to hopefully help you get picked up by the algorithm with the engagement.
really a supergood song. the chords and the vocal lines are awesome. this is one of my favorite songs, I have ever heared from your console. the grungy guitar is on fire. very well done.
Cool video as always and I'm digging the heavy distorted sound. Distortion has certainly become another great tool in your arsenal since that track you debuted it on earlier this year. I hear you on the "I me you" lyrics. I was just thinking the other day about how hard they are to avoid. Hope that things are getting a little more settled down for you.
I love those trashy drums (yes this is a compliment).
Thanks for the positive message at the start of the video, in Quebec province we are world champs for suicide per population, this having probably one of the best life quality there is in the word. Go figure.
I feel the anger on the guitar tones. This is a great track. Carry on.
Thanks for those videos.
thank you for the flash warning - flashing lights give me the spins...
the really cool switching fx last week somehow kept that video from triggering me - that was really neat! & it didn't give me the spins
i didn't chance it this week with the warning so josh gave me the play by play while i wore a mask
the intensity of this piece really captures such an amazing energy - it's like you are glowing despite all the struggles - your beautiful light keeps shining through
wishing you well - things are intense right now you got friends glowing back at ya
Great strong melodies as always and very enjoyable guitar noisiness. \m/
I can't believe how you managed to fit all those rides into your basement for filming. Very impressive.
When you put too much wet on the vocals and the music is fire, the lyrics evaporate as well. For real though, this song is amazing.
- Devieus
I'm late to comment, but the mood of this particular track really resonates with me this week. Really glad I made the time to listen to it.
that crunchiness of the guitar with the rides of the drums is such a nice sound. Gives me some 90s grunge feels.
Dig the unexpected chord changes in this song!
For the first few seconds of the video I really thought you were filming a toy amusement park ride with tiny dolls in the seats, swinging in slow motion. such a surreal slow-mo camera effect.
YES, this one! ORANGE DRINK SPECIAL VHS DVD SPECTACULAR CONTINUES now w/ flashing lights. (JFC I feel like a dick feeding your perfectionism but so much amazing work...)
So the lyrics make a hell of a lot more sense after the intro's explanation. Also, love those drums a lot, in a word: GRIT
This video & finally getting the lyrics all understood is interesting feeling -- I anticipated anxiety, but I think the line you mentioned in the video is actually really really really caring about the audience on your behalf. Consider, for example, never yielding that tension like Plaid's New Family video which they projected as part of their visuals during the live show. I did think it was amazing to be confronted by this in the middle of a "techno set," but theirs is just fucking w/ folks. Yours is a crescendo of anxiety you then take onto yourself and let us empathize with instead.
tldr, Orange Drink is Jesus.
Came back to this one today and wow, I love what you did with the chord progressions here. Especially the pivot between the chorus and the second verse!
