Damn, that video was awesome! Perfect tune for it. Wow, kept me smiling the whole way through. This might be my fave vid of yours this year.
Your music videos this year have been incredible. This one might be one of my all-time favorites!
The stop animation dance is AWESOME! I was laughing the whole time! The deadpan face made it perfect. Wow the spinning!!! And the arms flailing around! Then the jump up and down! This is the perfect chiptune video. The conclusion on the floor was perfectly appropriate, followed by the glitchy checkbox. That was epic.
That is some damn fine beat. Loved the syncopated baseline coming in. Also... those dance moves!
Dope! was tempted to run from this track due to the harsh chiptune sounds but glad I stayed! the arrangement is nice, somehow appears much more complex than it is because of the way it gets so many layers applied to it! on closer listen I count 3 melodic layers and a bunch more percussion/beat ones, so idk if that's a lot, but it feels like a lot!
ironically the part of the video where you apply more layers to yourself is the part where the song is the least layered heheh.
would be nice btw to see some clips of the instruments used, that's always fun to see some hints of the musical process behind the production in this case it would prob just be a little clip of the digitakt lighting up as it's playing, but when you use the OP1 it could be that, etc.. Kinda like you do when you play drums or horns or whatnot. Just a suggestion, idk if you wanna go for that, since clips of instruments/playing prob doesn't always fit with the music video, but hey I'd be into it!
such a cool dance video. you make crazy moves, almost Matrix-style. love it.
Great stuff. I wasn't sure where the video was going at first, but once the dancing started it was smiles all the way.
haha, those hyper speed dance moves were incredible, totally wasn't expecting that. REally cool track, nice arps and bass line. I particularly liked that 1:27 section with the rhythmic switch up
Trying to mend my ways (sorry for the blank comment, phone being stupid)
Feelin those 8bit vibes and enjoyed your dance routine ala Intergalactic Beastie Boy-effect
wonderful. great little tune. just the right amount of DT magic on top of the chonky chip goodness. arms flailing, pogo, and pass out at the end were dance highlights. would bop again.
Love those chip tunes. This one is a very fun listen and agreed with others that those choegraphies are great.
Looked like a fun video to make along with a fun tune! Nice work.
Ohhhhh 'wavey arms' at 2:10 leading into the ultimate breakdown, WAT!
So I'm wondering, do you have a half-speed version of the track playing the whole time?! the video is pretty much one whole take(maybe where the lights come on?... no! it really is one whole take... how is this happening??)
no no, i can't... i have to spell this out for everyone else:
- you put the youtube video on 0.25x speed(the track also sounds really great this way, horatio'll love the harsh chip goodness especially when it's stretched this way)
- now when it gets to 1:59 check out what happens: you think it could be edited, but no! right at 1:59 Frank turns the lights out, then boom! by 2:00 Frank has turned lights on the flashing-mode! (also, sidenote: i swear drew has decided the green jacket will not work out because it's too small for this many coats and it's going to hinder the dance moves coming up soon after this moment so he decides just then and there to start taking layers off that way he'll be free to do the wavy arms on full blast!)
-then bam! lights stay on for the wavy arms and straight into the gravity-defying barrel-hops at 2:15! i never seen barrel-hops(my word for it) so rhythmically on-point before. WAT?!
the only other way i can see this one-take action so nicely choreographed and synchronized, is possibly if you played the song back to back, maybe the sections sort of line up by being 4/4 but no, i really feel like you have a half-speed of the track playing the whole time
tis all so much awesomely detailed genius. thank you for this inspirational beauty!
WOW! That's a bop of a tune, but that video! holy macaroni, fast dancing men! And noodle arms, and all the stuff that made me smile. The speed up works so well, and how you built that up, daaamn, one of my fave vids of yours this year I think!
Super fun track and super fun video, I thought your arms were going to fly off at the end, my son likes to do that move, could not stop smiling watching and listening to this video. thank you.
(eep, i spelled, 'horatiu' wrong. sorry! also, i been thinking about the harshness of digital lately too, so i meant everything in a good/humorous way... )
Damn, that video was awesome! Perfect tune for it. Wow, kept me smiling the whole way through. This might be my fave vid of yours this year.
Thank you! It was a ton of work so I’m glad it was your favorite! I wonder if it will REMAIN your favorite?!?!?!

Ha ha ha! I got super dizzy Glad you stuck around for the freak-out-checkbox - I was really excited about that idea.

Thanks for watching jimmac!!

Glad you stuck around! I usually do NES just by itself, but this time it was NES and then an added layer of Digitakt drums. lol, didn’t catch the “layers/breakdown” - love it! Thanks for your comment about the production, the week 43 video showed a similar setup (with gameboy instead of nintendo) so I tried not to do the same thing twice this year, but I want to do more gameboy videos and maybe even explain how to connect the digitakt to it) but thanks for the suggestions and for watching!!
such a cool dance video. you make crazy moves, almost Matrix-style. love it.
lol thanks i’m trapped in the matrix!
Great stuff. I wasn't sure where the video was going at first, but once the dancing started it was smiles all the way.
i’m glad you had an “ah ha!” moment!!
thanks for watching!
This is a solid gold bop, love it!!!

thanks! calculating how to do the dance to match the switch up was confusing!
Feelin those 8bit vibes and enjoyed your dance routine ala Intergalactic Beastie Boy-effect
YES Intergalactic is the BEST!
this is just so awesome in so many ways = LOVE LOVE LOVE
thanks for watching!

Thanks for noticing! I haven’t typically combined NES with anything so it was fun to mix in DT.
So great, Light it up.
Thanks for watching, my dear mzunguko!!
Love those chip tunes. This one is a very fun listen and agreed with others that those choegraphies are great.
Thanks it was super fun/exhausting/fun to do!
oh boy. This video

okay i’m definitely going to have to make a specific behind-the-scenes video for this, but as to not destroy your mind (that was already destroyed on the ‘that’s not a mirror’ video!)
1: IT REALLY WAS ONE TAKE
2: The song is fairly unlistenable at 1/4th speed, so I just made a metronome and then a vocal track that had direction instructions “Frank, turn off the lights - Drew, put on jacket in 3, 2, 1 - wavey arms GO” etc.
3: So we had a basic plan, we had a metronome keeping time, and then did the whole thing FIRST take, ONE take! 11 minutes of non-stop dancing! I really was exhausted at the end.
I REALLY appreciate your energy and enthusiasm! Thanks for getting into it and I L O V E D your detective work! That’s how I know this was a success

HA HA your son rules! Glad you had fun
