LYRICS:

yung grandpa grabbing the mic
switching up the flow cause i do what i like
gotta keep you guessing, gotta keep it hype
i write a track a week; it’s just riding a bike

except every week you gotta reassemble it
why did i start, i don’t remember it
the most difficult part, probably mentally
how can i stop; don’t even mention it

if a tree falls in a forest does it make a sound?
if i make a lot of money does it make a parent proud?
if i be myself, am i irrelevant?
if i’m a man and i’m gay: am i effeminate?

everything i need to know’s in abstract art
the truth of who i am is all inside my heart
i’m creative and honest and i’m spirited
when it comes to keeping it real, boy i’m killing it

yourself is the most relevant!

🔥🔥🔥

Nice work! Tidy lyrics. Nice vibes on the track too.

Congrats on making it through 13 weeks, nice milestone track smile

This is great and I loveeeee it. Your flow was great, the lyrics were on point, and the vibe was perfect. I also love that it's so laid back that you're literally chillin' out on the couch and spittin' rhymes, haha. That outro sample is awesome too.

Dude... I listened to just the audio first and loved it. Then I came back and watched the video. MFer got it all in a single take??? DAMN man, I'm super envious! I imagine it took a couple of attempts, cause the results look and sound AWESOME. Great job here, dude ❤️
I think it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyways: the lyrics are fucking dope. Honestly can't pick a favorite bit cause it's all great. Keep up the awesome work, looking forward to listening to more!

siiiiick! love that pad sound, you got a nice rap voice too!

Love the laid back attitude, spittin' great lines, being unapologetically yourself! It's the only way to be! 🪩

Love it, love the lyrics, love the music.  Love the tone of the vocals?  What effect are you using?

Yung Grandpa returns! big_smile Hooray!

I LOVE those pads and that chord progression  so much. Great job on this one!

Nice to see Yung Grandpa make an appearance this year.  Great flow and a good message.

oh hell yeah yung grandpa killin it

EMILY, I feel like every time I respond to your comments I shout your name as if I am entering a crowded party and we immediately make eye contact and I excitedly shout your name

anyway

EMILY!
thanks so much esp about the vocals - your vocals are always on point so I super appreciate it.  I mixed the vocals in 90 seconds and was just like “sure more compression sure more compression sure turn down a lil why not” so I’m so happy to get a comment from youuuuu heart

thanks for the pic too

muh DUDE thanks so much.  fun fact: the outro sample is actually me!  I pitched up the track, sang the vocal, then pitched down the track back to regular so the “sample” would be “vaporwaved” smile

thanks so much - I think it was actually attempt two, gratefully with some practice and reading the lyrics off a dry erase board smile thank you thank you!  hope to do at least 3 more raps this year

wait.  mr WOOFMANTIC???

omg this is amazing.  I’m assuming you are a huge Diez fan (our dog who was in our videos in 2022)  LOVE YOU WOOFMANTIC

lol I think having mild asthma was the “vocal effect” smile  I recorded the vocals through a mixer and added some slight reverb/delay and EQed out some of the low end.  there might be slight distortion or that might just be going through the mixer OR just asthma smile

The beat is also pretty pleasant, even the distortion somehow fits. Could be longer but I'll take what I'm getting!

Killin'it indeed. Keep reassembling that bike!

Smooth flow. The beats and the rhymes that is.

Love those gritty pads! And the WB themed lyrics had my head bopping.

We’re on week 13, only one quarter through
The calendar is showing there’s a lot to do
But we’re writing, and mixing, and keeping it real
This track is showing that there’s no lack of feel!

rap on WB love to hear it!

Love the wavy_canadian_boardsy feels to the main sample.  Love the lyrics and the rhythm they play off of from the beat.  Gave me some 'People Under The Stairs' vibes with the groove. Def need more Yung GP grooves!

great lyrics, love the flow and couch-based delivery style.

that tiny pause at 1:00 is so satisfying, as is the cranked distortion around 1:20.

boy you're killin' it.

you certainly are (killin' it)!
heart

Yah you're killing it! Love it. I have been eagerly awaiting the return of Yung Grampa! Lyrics and beat on point! Speaking to me gramps! Couch delivery - power move. I've been enjoying rocking my new OD t-shirt!
