Burglarized

By orangedrink on December 7, 2018 11:01 am

YA BOY YUNG GRANDPA IS BACK

I'm not 100% sure if my voice sounds good on this, but whatever!  Mixing and evaluating rap vocals is really tough. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is a story of a burglary.  This is supposed to reflect the panic and shock of what it must feel like to be burglarized.  I tried to put in a little "plot twist" at the end.  The characters track their stolen laptop and are shocked by the location.  I don't know if I clearly communicated the "laptop tracking" is so few lines, did I? You can either interpret it as the neighbors committed the crime OR the criminals are currently robbing the neighbors too!

All music from the OP-1, tried to make it sound like your stomach sinking as you realize what's happened.

Lyrics:

So, I don’t remember the joke but I remember the laugh
that got cut short - opened the door and saw glass
on the floor.   Wait, did something break?  Is this fake?
I thought you locked the door, yeah, we locked the door so wait

If the door wasn’t locked then it would have just been open
The door must have been locked, right? and that’s why it was broken
So call the police, don’t touch anything - What is that?
Is that blood??  Oh my god!  Where’s the dog?  Where’s the cat?

Look under the desk, the sofa bed - check the back yard
What did they take? Where’s your passport and credit card?
Why did they do this to us, what did we do wrong?
This place is a mess, look at your desk, the computer’s gone!!

If they take the laptop online, can we track it?
One location found; it’s not our house, hey, I have it!

I blink in disbelief and i take a seat.

The address is across the street.

True story? This is why you reformat your drive when you steal computers.

Nicely rapped, BTW.

Nice concept for a track, great ending with leaving the listener to interpret who took the laptop, like the mix of the gritty synth with the mellow pads.  I’ve thankfully never been burglarized, did have my disc man stolen once, I was mostly pissed because they stole my “2 remixes by afx” cd, thief probably threw it in the garbage

Awesome tune and flow!

The lyrics say "blink in disbelief" but you said "look in disbelief." Literally unlistenable

Kidding, well done! Voice sounded good.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

I love you for this comment.  So, I accidentally copy/pasted an earlier draft of the lyrics.  I swapped blink for look because I kept hearing "blinkin' disbelief" and it sounded too weird!

Not a true story, thank goodness.  Also thanks for the tip?  I think?

Thanks my brother! heart

Thanks for the offer, a few months ago I was able to get a good copy of the 12” and for a reasonable price, so I’m happy now.

I love that CD so much.  As well as Smojphace!  I remember driving around listening to track 3 (the image data).....who does that?

Really good story telling and plot twist at the end. I listened first before reading your notes and could easily follow. This was a different kind of Yung Grandpa track with less edge but a more animated story telling vocal. Love that snap in the drum track and backing melodies. And happy to see another YG track for 2018!

Don't jump to conclusions, that's what the police is for.

Nice rapping though.

Oooh, this flows great! The story escalates nicely and the punch is perfect big_smile Reading the comments I am glad to learn it is not based on a true story big_smile

Yung Grandpa, lmao. Nicely done tune, I appreciate how clearly mixed the vocal is heart

yung grandpa did it again!

great track!

This is awesome! Sweet sounds out of the OP1 and nice rapping!

Cool flowing lyrics and even better chord progression with that outro.
