Tesseract

By onezero on June 14, 2020 9:43 pm

A week with a lot going on, so ideas didn't emerge until late. I threw a few syncopated rhythms down (Drum Rack of 64-pad rock kit) and then...didn't have a lot else in mind. I added some rhythms and a few tentative keys, but it didn't start falling into place until I tracked bass Saturday night and Sunday. Then a few keys here and there (Rhodes and PureMagnetik grand piano with severe low-pass and high-pass), some echo plugins, and...that's it. Four channels total (drums, bass, electric piano, grand).  Bass got the usual EQ-8 rolloff below 120Hz, and the drums got the usual Drum Buss. Full-chain finalizing on everything.

Title from the number of faces on a tesseract.

Exactly!

This track is a groove man.

I feel the progression can be a bit livelier, like it goes to suspension chords and hangs there a bit too long. Nice tension though.

True! I tried different following chords for a progression, but I wasn't getting much out of them, so...I just stayed with the suspended version. It might be worth revisiting, though!

Bad ass bass and drum groove with that classic electro piano sound... gets the job done! Like how you leave a lot of room for that snare to do the talking smile
